Atoms can be in more than one place at a time, a property of atoms and nothing else i believe. Anything that can happen will happen in one parallel universe or another, with atoms connecting them, that is how they are in more than one place at a time. Now with the human brain watching it can only choose one possibility because the human brain can only experience one of these parallel universes at the same time.
In physics, wave-particle duality holds that light and matter can exhibit properties of both waves and of particles. It is a central concept of quantum physics.
Through the work of Albert Einstein, Louis de Broglie and many others, it is now established that small objects, such as atoms, have both wave and particle nature, and that quantum mechanics provides the over-arching theory resolving this apparent paradox.
