Shuttle Atlantis booster rocket free fall from space to the ocean
This is a cool video of a solid rocket booster separating from the Space Shuttle Atlantis. It is filmed with a camera mounted on the booster itself, so you can follow the hypnotic free-fall from space to the ocean.
The SRBs never actually leave the atmosphere. Otherwise, they would burn up. That's why there's sound. Add to that the fact that the camera is physically attached to something vibrating, so the mic is going to pick up that too. You can only not transmit sound across the void of space. If the mic is attached, and the vibrations are strong enough, it will still pick up the sound.
