7 Gev proton accelerator in the 1960s

It was built just before the alternating gradient principle ( early 1950s) was fully accepted hence the huge size of the bending magnets. An apt comparison would be with the alternating-gradient proton synchrotron of the Brookhaven National Laboratory.
