In 2003 M and I were lucky enough to have a chance to stay at the Makrolab art exhibit on Compalta, a small island off the coast of Venice.
The creator of Makrolab is a man from Slovenia named Marko Peljhan.
His art is about appropriating military technology for the benefit of civilian life. He spent many years researching covert military technolgies before he begand designing constructing his Digital Labs. These are totally mobile, completely self-sufficient, ulta-high-technology laboratories that can operate anywhere in the world.
The Makrolab was on an island off the coast of Scottland, and he hopes that soon it will be in Anatarctica!
