DURING WW II, almost 4,000 of these “flying boat” PBYs Cansos, and Catalinas were built. This was by far the most popular design of FLYING BOAT ever. Many of them were built right here in Canada, at three different aircraft manufacturing plants, in Vancouver and Montreal.

RCAF CANSOS patrolled Canada’s coastline from 1941 to 1962, in an anti-submarine role, and were successful in many documented cases against German U-boats!
